Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic artist, performer and composer. He combines soul gospel jazz with R&B to create a unique mixture. She has appeared on stages all over the world, from Broadway up to The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her career in music by singing and playing the piano in church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her journey into music in Atlanta's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single with her vocals was called Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released exclusively in Japan It was later remixed by many producers and remains an essential part of her live sets. Her voice has also been a part of voice to The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. She took on the role of primary keyboardist at Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. In 2007 Grammy and Tony award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to be the director of choral for the stage production of Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention due to her four daily performances during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was chosen to perform as part of the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
