When you tell them that you're from Colorado the first words they'll use are Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's biggest solo achievement after having performed with small folk bands. It was co-written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff was the one who wrote the song in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version, and was certain the song would be a top 10 hit. In the days following his performance for a packed crowd within Washington D.C., the musician recorded the track.
